Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about Romaji, Hiragana, Katakana, and when to use each of the alphabets. They will be introduced to common greetings and other basic phrases for daily use. Discussion will be held about Japan’s history, interesting cultural points, and what to expect when traveling in Japan.
I majored in Asian Studies in college and specialized in Japanese. I studied the language and culture for all four years of my bachelor’s degree and was the official tutor for Japanese for my college. I studied abroad in Japan in 2018, and I have since tutored Japanese online and been a personal teacher for students in Japanese.
Homework is not assigned, but review between classes is highly encouraged to assist with memory and comprehension
Students will need paper and something to write with to practice writing the characters. An alphabet chart will be provided to students for both the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
