Homework
1 hour per week. Each week students will receive a new set of vocabulary flashcards which I recommend reviewing throughout the week to help with retention of the vocabulary. Reviewing 10-15 minutes per day will greatly help students be prepared for the following class. I will teach simple games that can be used at home with your students throughout the week to help them practice.

Class Experience

🇮🇳Week 1: Around My Classroom
Basic self-introduction and vocabulary and sentences that describe the classroom.

🇮🇳Week 2: Around My Home
Asking, "How are you?", and vocabulary words related to our home.

🇮🇳Week 3: Family Members & Relationships
Responding to the question, "How are you?", and vocabulary words related to our family members and how they are related to us.

🇮🇳Week 4: Fruits & Vegetables
Learning to say what you are doing, "I am standing/sitting/jumping", and vocabulary words related to common fruits and vegetables.

🇮🇳Week 5: Animals
Learning to say what someone else is doing, "He/She is standing/sitting/walking" + animals names.

🇮🇳Week 6: Foods
Reviewing all previous class vocabulary + basic food vocabulary

🇮🇳Week 7: Colors 
Identifying colors in Hindi + using color words in a sentence.  "This is a red apple."

🇮🇳Week 8: Opposites
Learning opposite words (big/small, tall/short) + using them with previous vocabulary words.  "This is a small toy.  This is a big toy."  

🇮🇳Week 9: Parts of the Face
Identifying and using the parts of the face (mouth, nose, eyes, lips) vocabulary in a sentence.

🇮🇳Week 10: Parts of the Body
Identifying + using the parts of the body (legs, arms, hands) vocabulary in a sentence.

A B O U T   T H E   T E A C H E R 

👉Licensed Elementary Education Teacher with over 10 years of classroom experience with students 3-18 years old!  

👉Lived and worked as a teacher in New Delhi, India from 2017-2023 

👉Learned Hindi by immersion (I had to get my groceries and talk to the auto walla’s somehow!!) + formal grammar and Hindi courses at a language school in Delhi

👉After falling in love with India, also fell in love with an Indian (we got married in 2019) who continues to hone and correct my Hindi every day :)

👉Began teaching Hindi online + in person in 2020 when the pandemic hit

👉Fun Fact: I can also read and write Devanagari script and am teaching my own children (a 1 and 3 year old!)

Learning Goals
Students will remember and be able to correctly pronounce all beginner vocabulary, as well as simple sentence structure in Hindi to introduce themselves and tell what they are doing using several different verbs.

Week 1: Around the Classroom
 Basic self-introduction and vocabulary and sentences that describe the classroom (book, paper, pen, etc)
