Description

Class Experience

During each class, students will learn several different exercises to safely warm-up all muscles and joints.  They will learn and practice exercises to improve flexibility and balance, as well as basic gymnastics skills such as rolls, backbends, and handstands.
My background is in fitness and exercise. I have taught P.E., including a gymnastics unit, for several years, and coached at a friend's gymnastics studio over the past year.  Because I am not able to provide hands-on spotting while teaching virtually, I will be sure to keep the movements safe and not too high-risk for your child.  Please let me know if your child has any special needs or restrictions so I can be sure to show modifications for him/her.
Students are encouraged, but not required to practice the skills learned in class every day to help improve strength, balance, and flexibility.
Students will need a soft area to work in such as carpeting or a mat. They will need to wear comfortable clothing that they can easily move around in and may want to have a water bottle handy to stay hydrated.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be given an informal assessment of skills each class and will be provided with feedback to help make corrections when needed.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students may be encouraged to use a wall or couch to assist with balancing during certain skills (e.g. headstands), so please let me know if you object to having your child put their feet on the wall or couch.
