Why Us: Our guitar circles create a uniquely collaborative learning environment that goes beyond traditional instrument instruction. We focus equally on musical development and social skills, helping children build friendships through music. Our approach emphasizes enjoyment and connection, making learning guitar a joyful social experience rather than a solitary practice. Class Experience: Discover the joy of playing guitar in this welcoming class designed for complete beginners! Students will learn basic melodies, master the basics of hand coordinations to play easy songs in a supportive environment that celebrates all learning styles. Our step-by-step approach builds confidence while developing fine motor skills, focus, and musical expression. No prior experience needed – just bring your enthusiasm and a guitar (full-size or ¾ size recommended). By the end of this course, students will be able to play several simple melodies and have a strong foundation for continued musical growth. Class Structure: Warm up - 5 mins New Concept/Techniques - 10 mins Guided Learning - 20 mins Wrap up - 5 mins Example Topics Covered - Guitar anatomy and proper holding technique - Right-hand finger control and basic picking patterns - Left-hand finger placement and first position notes - Simple melodies on individual strings - Beginning rhythmic notation and counting Teaching Style: Our approach is interactive, supportive, and community-centered. Instruction combines demonstration, guided practice, collaborative learning, and peer teaching opportunities. We create a safe environment where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities and students are encouraged to support one another's growth. Class Evaluation: Students receive ongoing verbal feedback during each session. Progress is measured through observation of both musical skill development and social interaction. A brief written assessment is provided at the conclusion of the course, highlighting achievements and suggesting next steps for continued learning.
