1. Learn and identify various power chords and octaves across the neck of the guitar through the analysis of a Grunge song. 2. Learn how Grunge band created solos, sometimes using simple scales and vocal melodies of the verse or the chorus. 3. Learn how any of these Grunge bands wrote a song in the style of Grunge by analyzing the song structure of these songs. 4. Learn various normal and odd timing rhythms that are incorporated into Grunge songs. 5. Learn the importance of dynamics using clean and distortion in Grunge songs. 6. Discuss different tunings associated with Grunge songs. 7. Students will be taught the concepts of mastering the material effortlessly and efficiently for practicing on their own time. Since many of the concepts within each Grunge song are quite similar, students will be able to achieve a high level of success with newer material if they practice with the concepts that the teacher presents to them.
Students will be given the sheet music pdf and will be expected to practice specific parts of the song as guided by the teacher in the lesson.
Learner progress is assessed by means of presenting the material within a follow up 1:1 class if any individual student wishes to continue instruction. Since this is an ongoing class, there will also be opportunities for more group classes in the future to further enhance the student’s abilities.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
