Beginner Level
Guitar camp for students who are new to the instrument. No prior experience needed. Students will learn: -How to hold the guitar and guitar pick -Playing position and rest position -Parts of the guitar -How to strum -Hand/finger position -Simplified chords -How to count and play chord patterns on the guitar -How to play and sing popular songs such as "Yellow Submarine" and "The Hokey Pokey" This will be an engaging class that will allow students' first experiences with the instrument to be fun, memorable, and frustration-free! Students will get to play guitar together as a group. They will also get chances to take individual turns which will allow for one-one-one assistance and tips to help improve their technique. Students will be encouraged to sing along to songs that they will learn to play.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of guitar including playing position, how to strum, proper hand and finger position, simplified chords, how to count and play chord patterns, and how to play multiple songs.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parents please assist your learner with tuning their guitar before each class. An electronic tuner or the third-party tuning app "Guitar Tuna" can be used. This app is completely free and does not require an account to be made to use it.
Supply List
Students must have their own guitar (6 strings) and pick. Guitars must be tuned before the start of every class (parents please assist with this). A Google Slides presentation will be sent to you for reviewing the material learned between each class.
