Hallo! I am so happy you are interested in learning German! This class will focus on the following topics: 1:Greetings (good morning, good afternoon, good night) and emotions (happy, sad, sick, tired, nervous, angry). 2: Numbers (Numbers 1-12; asking/answering "How old are you?", Responding to the question "How many ... are there?) 3: Colors (primary and secondary colors, students will describe the colors of objects and be encouraged to find colors around them; they will learn to ask/answer the question: "What is your favorite color?") 4: Food (such as ice cream, fruit, meat, bread, eggs, cheese). Students will practice answering the question: "What is your favorite food?" 5: Zoo animals (such as lion, tiger, elephant, giraffe, monkey, crocodile). These classes are structured to be energetic and interactive, with fun songs, games, and activities. I will use Total Physical Response (TPR) method, proven to help in language acquisition. Students will get to speak early and often to practice their new German words! My teaching style is warm, caring, and flexible. Please know that no prior experience is necessary. I can't wait to teach your child!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hola! Hallo! My language journey began after high school when I spent a year studying abroad in Potsdam, Germany. I immersed myself in German culture, attended a German high school, and worked on my German language skills. When I returned from Germany, I double majored in German and Spanish at Pennsylvania State University and spent a semester studying and living with a family in the Dominican Republic. I then earned my Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in language education. After graduating with honors, I taught German and Spanish at the middle school level, and was certified to teach ESL. During this time I also visited several Spanish-speaking countries, including Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Then came my own kids! I left my brick and mortar classroom to stay home with my children, and I have been teaching online Spanish, German, and ESL classes part-time ever since.
First of all, I love language. The sound. The beauty. Even the rules! Moreover, I think language is important. Studies show that the earlier a child learns a world language, the better. As someone who has learned two world languages besides my native English, I have a special understanding of what it takes to acquire a new language. I am patient and kind, and try to add fun and joy to the language learning process. With over 15 years of language teaching experience, I can tailor my teaching to fit any child and give them a solid language foundation.
