For lovers of "Frozen," this class will get kids hooked on ukulele! Students will learn ukulele basics (string names, chords, finger names, parts of the ukulele, tuning), enjoy weekly take-home projects (including color-by-chord diagram and practice tips!), and finally, learning how to play and sing "Let it Go" at the same time! Students will begin class with weekly Frozen-themed "ice-breakers" to build a strong sense of community. We will then share our weekly wins and challenges, share practice tips with each other, and go over and homework. But then... it's time to play! Each week, we will learn a new part of the song. Students will each have an opportunity to go over the piece and receive specific musical support from me, and moral support from their peers. My teaching style is playful, humorous and supports creativity as a road to advanced musical expression. Students with prior ukulele experience are welcome to try, but this class is designed specifically for the beginner. Week 1: Getting To Know Your Ukulele Week 2: Verse and Pre-Chorus Week 3: Chorus Week 4: Putting it all together Week 5: Performing with feeling!
Learning Goals
Students will learn foundational ukulele technique. They will end class able to play "Let it Go" from Frozen!
