Class Experience
In this Beginner Fashion Workshop Flex Class, students will learn the how-to’s of fashion drawing. This is a FLEX class, so learners will be able to take their time practicing and drawing the fashion exercises at their own pace. During this course, I will be available to answer student questions via Outschool messaging, class posts, and Outschool video messaging. This Fashion Workshop includes many drawing exercises, teacher videos, prompts and fashion context for your student. Each week there will be a fashion assignment for students to turn in. Assignments will be reviewed, and positive constructive feedback will be given from the teacher. I interact with student via video and Outschool messaging to help build a classroom environment. For example, when a student submits their assignments I will respond with a video message providing constructive feedback and helpful tips if needed. I also might check in with students to see how they are progressing along with the course and to offer any assistance. Sometimes students like to share their artwork with the class and send video explaining their designs with their classmates by posting to the classroom posts. This is completely fine and optional, of course. Fashion is fun! If students would like to share their fashion designs with classmates, this is encouraged. Students are welcome to comment on each other's designs and give helpful pieces of advice based on what worked for them. For every lesson I teach students via video how to complete the fashion assignment. There is no experience or previous knowledge learners will need to complete this class. Session One: Tools and Materials Checklist - Day 1 and Class Example Below* Basic Model Figure Drawing - Day 2 Designing clothes for all figures- Day 3 In this session students will practice drawing basic model figures of different sizes and shapes. Students will also create looks for these model figures. Students will get to know about fashion designers who create fashion designs for all body types. Students will get feedback from the teacher about their creation. If students would like to share their fashion designs with classmates, this is encouraged. Students are welcome to comment on each other's designs and give helpful pieces of advice. Session Two: Unique Fashion Personality Quiz In this session students will uncover their own unique fashion style using a fashion design personality test and then create their own unique styles. Students will use an interactive guide to gauge their fashion style. Students will also create a fashion design based on their fashion personality. This is an interactive game that helps students dive deeper into what type of fashion style they like. If students would like to share their fashion designs with classmates, this is encouraged. Students are welcome to comment on each other's designs and give helpful pieces of advice based on what worked for them. Session Three: Mood Board In this session students will learn what is a fashion mood board and create one of their own using items they find. Students will learn the importance of a mood board and share them with class. Students will use these mood boards to create their own fashion designs based on other student designs. If students prefer not to share their mood boards, this is okay. Students will be able to share with the teacher. This is very similar to a scavenger hunt game to collect fashion inspirations from around the students home to create a mood board. Session Four: In this sessions student will learn how to use multiple drawing mediums to create their fashion designs. Pencils, Pen, Color Pencils, and Markers. If students would like to share their fashion designs with classmates, this is encouraged. Students are welcome to comment on each other's designs and give helpful pieces of advice based on what worked for them. Session Five: In this sessions student will learn how to use watercolors, collage and washi tape to create their fashion designs. This session we will use watercolors an collage to create our fashion designs. If students would like to share their fashion designs with classmates, this is encouraged. Students are welcome to comment on each other's designs and give helpful pieces of advice based on what worked for them. This is similar to the fashion scavenger hunt from previous lessons in that students will find unique collage pieces around their home to create a fashion design. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My journey in the arts started in middle school after visiting the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The school's art teacher noticed how intrigued I was with each painting and encouraged me to join the art club. In college I continued to learn everything I could about art by studying Art History. When I'm not teaching art I paint live at local events and spend time with family.
I teach private and group classes for Procreate, Art Fundamentals, Painting, Fashion Drawing, Weekly African American & Afro-Caribbean Art History and Adobe Illustrator. Ages 6-18
Thank you for visiting my class and I look forward to sharing my art knowledge with you!
