Class Experience

In this one-time class, you will learn to draw sushi in a cute style through a step-by-step lesson, as well as colour it in using pencil crayons, crayons or markers.

Class will begin by drawing the sushi step-by-step, moving at the pace of the learners in class. We will begin with the basic shapes, and add more details as we move through the drawing. When we are finished sketching all of the elements, we will have time to add colour. During the colouring time, learners will have an opportunity (if the would like) to share their work and chat with the other students in class.

This class is perfect for any learner who is new to drawing or wants to learn more drawing techniques!

All children deserve quality arts education- if cost is prohibitive for you, please reach out to inquire about available coupons.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mekayla Dionne. I am a Toronto, Canada based Artist and Art Teacher! I teach drawing and painting classes for children aged 5-16. I teach a variety of mediums such as acrylic, watercolour, tempera, graphite, and more! I love to help students build their confidence in their art as well as in themselves.

I went to OCAD University and received a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts), majoring in Drawing & Painting. I now have my own professional art practice and I frequently show my paintings in galleries.

My artistic passion is in creating large scale abstract paintings using dozens of layers to achieve a highly tactile surface, as well as create optical illusions. However, my foundation is in realism drawing. I spent years building the skill of drawing things as realistically as possible, including drawing flowing hair, water, and rocks, using shading techniques.

When I teach, my primary goal is to make sure everyone is having fun. Art can be frustrating at times, and a lot of practice goes into learning just one skill. I know how important it is to make it a fun experience for children so that they don't feel discouraged. After all, the best thing you can do is practice, practice, practice!

When I am not teaching or creating my own art, I love to swim at the beach, go on bike rides, and tend to my plants. I am super friendly so don't be afraid to say "hi!", and I can't wait to meet all of you!
