Class Experience

Students will have a better understanding of the parts of a story and the process of writing one, but also more appreciation and respect for their own ideas and creations.
Each week, students will be asked to work on their course-long short story. Students will post their progress to the classroom at least twenty-four hours before the following week's class! If students do not post their work on time, we will be unable to discuss their work in class-- parents, please help me ensure your students have the best learning experience by encouraging them to post their work on time.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While students will be encouraged to write about whatever excites or inspires them, this is generally a low violence, high charm/delight type of class.

Below are my general classroom rules and policies. These will also be explained to students when we begin class!
-For everyone's safety, and to ensure an engaging and social experience, students are expected to have working microphones and video for the entirety of this class, positioned such that we can both hear and see them.
-Students are asked not to use virtual backgrounds (they're fun, but the flickering gives me headaches!)
-I typically keep all students muted to prevent background noises from becoming distracting. If a student would like to ask a question, add to the conversation, or merely share an idea, they simply need to raise their hand, and I will unmute them as quickly as possible!
-The Zoom chat is set to "host only", meaning students can chat with me, but not to one another or the entire classroom.
