I have been teaching dance for the past 3 years, and I have taught beginner/intermediate level dance in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Lyrical. In addition, I have choreographed many middle school productions. I also will have a minor in dance, Early Childhood Education and a BA in Psychology by this December.
There will be no assigned homework: However every dancer should keep in mind that no one will be perfect at everything by the time the class is over. It is our job as dancers to keep improving, practicing and to NEVER GIVE UP.
I highly recommend you have something that can be a "barre" for the class. this can be a chair, a couch, the bottom of a banister, a door knob/handle. If you can not find or use any of these items, each step that is done at the barre can be done in the center. In addition, Students will be participating in a physical fitness/movement activities though out the class. Please be aware that your child can end up injuring themselves. Therefore please make sure your child has sufficient dance space, proper foot ware (choice of ballet shoes, or barefoot/socks). In addition, I encourage all students to have a water bottle near by and the student is warmed up before class to avoid injury’s. Parental supervision is strongly encourage to help your dancer assure there safety and spacial awareness.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each child will be assessed through observations of praise and critiques.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
