Beginner Level
In this class students will learn how to add fractions that already have a common denominator. We will use visual models first to introduce the concept and then learn how to mathematically solve fraction addition problems. The class is structured as follows: 1.) 2 minute Introductions 2.) 5 minute review 3.) 2 minute video 4.) 10 minute guided intstruction with volunteers 5.)10 minute independent work and review 6.) 5 minute review and questions My teaching style is to use multiple modes of instruction to reach all learners, including videos, direct explicit instruction and guided practice. I like to get to know my students and work with their strengths. Learners will have the chance to engage with other learners during guided instruction time. Basic fraction knowledge or previously taken my course "Intro to Fractions" is required.

I believe it is extremely important to get to know your students and differentiate learning accordingly. Not all students learn the same way and if they are not understanding something, it is my job to try and teach it in a way they will understand! To tell you a little more about me, I am a crazy dog lady , with 2 dogs and 3 cats. I love being outdoors, traveling, and problem solving. I do some dog training in my spare time. So basically I love teaching, whether dogs or children. :) Teaching new skills is just my thing!
