Begin to Read: CVC Phonics Patterns: Alphabet Sounds & Blending from A to Z!

ARE YOU READY TO BLEND LIKE A BOSS?

In this one-time class, students will review alphabet sounds, learn about consonants and vowels, and practice blending basic phonics words with the CVC pattern.

We will start by going over the 21 consonants and 5 short vowels of the alphabet and learn what exactly makes them special. Here's a hint, consonants make 1 sound and vowels make 2 (short and long)! During this review students will be chanting out the letters and sounds to get ready for blending. Students will then learn and practice CVC phonics pattern using different word families (ex. -at, -ip, -ox). We will use a whiteboard and marker or paper and pencil and verbal response to check for understanding.  At the end of the lesson if time allows, we will review the letter sounds and be given a chance to share 1 thing that each student learned to build speaking skills. Students will be given positive reenforcement throughout the lesson and encouraged to always do their best. 

This class is great for beginner readers and/or struggling readers.
