Students will learn about the family of mammal-like reptiles, the pelycosaurs.
The topics covered will be 1) The first pelycosaurs in the early permian 2) Early mammalian traits 3) Middle Permian pelycosaurs and body temperature control 4)Late permian pelycosaurs-the theraspids 5) The Permian mass extinction 6)Cynodonts &Dicynodonts, the pelycosaur descendants 7)Triassic cynodonts and loss to archosaurs
My class will be structured along the evolution of the pelycosaur tree
I will teach using a mixture of video clips, slides and engagement
