This one-week dance course will teach learners ballet basics. This course is not intended to be comprehensive, but to prepare young learners for what they can expect in and from a traditional ballet class. The course will teach dance class etiquette and basic ballet terms, their meanings, and how to perform them. Also, since presentation and showcase are essential parts of dance, students will end the class by presenting what they have learned to their families. Day 1- Plié, Relevé,...
This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to say, display, and explain basic ballet terms; Plié, Relevé, Tendu, Sauté and Révérence. Students will also be able to display feet positions; Neutral, first, parallel, and second, in addition to arm positions; en bas, first and fifth.
Over ten years of a experience as a dance teacher in art schools, summer camps, and after-school programs.
There is no homework for this course. I only ask that parents reinforce lessons by asking learners to show and tell what they learned after class.
Each learner should come in comfy, but somewhat fitted clothing so that I can easily check the feet and arm positions. Stretch pants and a tank are fine, leotard and tights are welcome.
Learners progress will be assessed using informal assessment. Learners do an informal review at the end of each class. Please let me know if you would like more specific feedback on your learner's progress.
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parent here is a list of a few things needed to get your little dancers ready for class: - comfy clothes that are somewhat fitted - a space with room to dance and stretch (a wall should be the background to minimize any traffic behind the dancer during class) - if dancers do not have ballet shoes they may complete the class barefoot - a water bottle - listening ears
