Class Experience

Students will improve their understanding of skills such as: setting, analyzing characters, plot, opinions, predictions, and so much more.
I am a certified teacher in grades pre-k through 6th in general studies as well as special education k-12, and ESL k-12. I have been in the classroom as a teacher for over ten years. I have a passion for guiding students to learn how to read, understand what they read, and to find their love of reading.
Reading will be assigned each week. This will usually be just a chapter on most books. The main idea of this book club is to learn to dig deep into books and not just read through quickly. You will need to gather supplies needed for crafts at times, and sometimes complete the crafts after class if more time is needed.
You will need the following book: ISBN-13:9780380709182 Publisher:HarperCollins Publishers Publication date:03/17/2020 Series: Ramona Series , #1 Edition description:Reissue Pages:208 Composition book or spiral crayons, pencil, tape/glue I will send out material/supply lists as needed for crafts.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
During discussions, teacher will check for understanding of skills.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Below is a summary of the book from Barnes and Nobles we will be reading. Please check the content for anything you wish for your child not to be exposed to.
“Newbery Award-winner Beverly Cleary delivers a humorous portayal of the ups and downs of sisterhood. Both the younger and older siblings of the family will enjoy this book. This chapter book is an excellent choice to share during homeschooling, in particular for children ages 7 to 9 who are reading independently. It’s a fun way to keep your child engaged and as a supplement for activity books for children. Having a little sister like four-year-old Ramona isn’t always easy for Beezus Quimby. With a wild imagination, disregard for order, and an appetite for chaos, Ramona makes it hard for Beezus to be the responsible older sister she knows she ought to be…especially when Ramona threatens to ruin Beezus’s birthday party. Will Beezus find the patience to handle her little sister before Ramona turns her big day into a complete disaster?”

"An important reminder of the good that can come when you throw yourself fully into any situation and draw outside the lines," says in their article "12 Girls from Fiction Who Are Their Own Heroes."
