In a highly encouraging, interactive approach, we will work together to improve comprehension skills through learning and understanding making inferences. I will use media, pictures, books, and their own picture and stories to navigate this subject. I know, the concept of inferencing can be daunting to some, but we are going to see how fun it is to be a detective and use what we can see and read to infer what we have not been given. Day 1: We will analyze pictures and some short story cards...
1. Students will learn that inferencing helps strengthen their reading comprehension. 2. Students will learn that through becoming a detective while reading they will be able to ask and answer questions and continue to become a master in inferencing.
I love making reading and writing come alive in my classroom. Upon graduating from The University of Tennessee with and English and Education degree, I have had a passion to see my students learn to love reading and begin writing wonderful stories themselves!
They will have the option to bring a picture or a short story to the second class. This will allow us to use our detective inferencing skills to determine more about their pictures and stories than what we can see or read!
Day 2: Bring a picture or short story that we will use to study inferencing further.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
