Learners will learn the differences between showing and telling when writing and developing their characters in a story. We will look at the difference between simply telling our readers about our characters to showing them through words. We will observe this by observing this in text by looking at pieces of the book "Tall Enough" by Gavin Kayner. Learners will be asked to change words and sentences from telling words to showing words. We will work on changing them together and independently...
Learners will understand the difference between showing writers about their characters and not simply telling about them. They will see the importance of making this a common practice in their writing.
I have had the opportunity to teach writing as well as write for a variety of publications. I am passionate about encouraging the next generations of writers in their writing journeys.
There will be an opportunity for them to develop a character as homework and share it with our class in the second class.
A pdf will be provided after our first class in order to assist with the homework and to use as a reference in the future.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
