Beginner Level
This course is for students, whether homeschool, public school, or private school, who want to develop techniques to be successful in school and for life. Disable the fear and discover tools and skills for success. Students will learn the power of self-responsibility to become a master student. In this course students will: • Discover their learning style and create their goals poster for the school year. • Discover and practice self-management techniques as it relates to time. • Discover twenty memory techniques and choose several to implement in school. • Discover reading techniques to increase comprehension and speed. • Learn how to take proper notes. • Learn what to do before, during and after a test. • Learn the core skills for critical thinkers and how to become one. • Learn problem solving techniques for any situation. Students will be given a questionnaire as well as a list of materials to complete upon enrollment to give the instructor background and knowledge of the student's interest before the session. Students will also participate in engaging, live instruction followed by an activity. The goal of this course is to provide techniques for school success therefore students are asked to identify a subject that they would like to focus on in the course and bring their textbook and one of their homework assignments given by their academic teacher to class to apply the techniques they are learning. We will do the entire course in one week. Other Details
Parental Guidance
This course will also utilize Kahoot! for engagement and Nearpod. While we may use Kahoot! from time to time, no log-in information will be required.
Students doing a virtual vision board will need to access Canva.com
Students will need to enter an email for Google Forms to get their results; however, this can be a parent email. No other communication will come to that email.
