This 4-week course is so much fun, your kiddos won't even realize they're sharpening their core reading skills! 😃 In this course, we will be honing our skills in almost every aspect of reading (literacy, comprehension, fluency, spelling, story elements, story sequencing, vocabulary, conflict & resolution, cause & effect, fact vs. opinion, etc.) all while learning about goats! I have lived most of my life on a farm and I love having the opportunity to include my animals in my teaching. The animals on our farm have helped me homeschool my own children and teach many other children over the years. 🏫 Class Structure 🏫 ► Welcome Chat/Meet Goat Friends ► Learn Fun Facts about Goats ► Read Goat Story ► Review Vocabulary from Story ► Story Comprehension Questions [whole group discussion] ► Character Sort Game ► Story Sequence Activity ► Story Opinion Poll ► Story Word Search ► Goat Game 📗 Course Reading List Week 1 Story: The Three Billy Goats Gruff Week 2 Story: The Two Goats Week 3 Story: The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats Week 4 Story: The Greedy Goats 📝 Resources Utilized → Short Stories → Worksheets → LUMIO Presentations → Interactive Games → Live Animals [All materials will be provided] Classroom Rules & Expectations ✅ Please be kind & respectful to Miss Mary, classmates, & yourself. ✅ Please use appropriate language. ✅ Please listen politely when Miss Mary or other classmates are speaking. ❗ Important Notes for Parents ❗ ► If your kiddo is having an especially tough time on our class day, please send me a message to let me know they need a little extra love that day. Parental Guidance
We will be using a third-party tool entitled LUMIO for our lessons. I will be sharing a link to the lesson so that the students and I can go through the material together. This will be for slides of the stories, group discussion questions, and games relating to the material. All activities on LUMIO may only accessed during our live class as the link becomes inactive when I end the lesson. Students will not need an account of any kind to view our content on LUMIO. They will be asked to enter their first name so that I can track all feedback from students during the lesson. No other information is requested or required.
