Being an Interior Designer can be a wonderful, exciting, and fulfilling career that allows you to travel, see and experience the world from a very different perspective while creating wonderful, emotional experiences for your clients. This 4 week course will introduce you to some key skills and philosophical approaches to creating amazing spaces that reflect YOUR personality. We will do this by working on an Interior project by designing a home from start to finish over the next 4 weeks, covering : Week 1. What is Interior Design_You'll be shown some of the world's best Interior Designers, how they design and what has become their signature look and feel. We will discuss a 4D Design Framework that we will use for our Interior Design Project. I will then share 3 example client briefs, that will form the basis of our Interior Design project + house plan/pictures for the chosen site. You will be given project homework to complete by the following week ( This homework is optional ) Week 2. We will cover 5 contemporary Interior Design Styles, used today, that you can use as a start point for the Interior Design project from Scandinavian style all the way across to being inspired by Biomimicry. We will use these styles as the start point to inspire your approach to designing a home for your chosen client, combined with your own personal style. I will introduce you to creating design mood boards and a 3D software, called Sketchup, which we will use to model our home structure/spaces. You will be given project homework to complete by the following week ( This homework is optional ) Week 3. We'll discuss what type of business Interior Designers can work within from Domestic, Workplace, Retail to Hospitality design. We will then start to design out our project interior spaces, by creating a connected design style theme for each room, based around your client's requirements. You will be given project homework to complete by the following week ( This homework is optional ) Week 4. We will start to visualize our project in week 4, by taking our 3D SketchUp model to a higher finish and by producing hand sketch visuals or creative collages to present ideas to our chosen client. These are core design skills, every interior designer must have in their creative arsenal. We will then discuss how to pull a design presentation together, bringing all the previous 3 weeks' work into one singular, cohesive presentation to inspire your client. General Note: This course is part lecture-based where I will present slides, with students being encouraged to asked questions on what they see. Each week students can present their classroom assignments ( optional ) for feedback, or send to me via Outschool for review/feedback. I will always to encourage students to express themselves if they feel comfortable in the online classroom, but I am more than happy to review in private via Outschool classroom.
