In this two meeting class, students will go on a journey with Spot the Emotion Detective and learn about different emotions and how to recognize them in themselves and others. By the end, they will be Emotion Detectives, too!

If you have a little one that has a tough time recognizing and expressing their feelings, this is the perfect class for them. Together we will be going on a journey with Spot the Emotion Detective. He will teach not only how to recognize feelings in themselves, but in others too. He teaches all about different emotions and facial expressions so they will know how to name their feelings. As we go on our journey, we will have group discussions about how each emotion makes you feel and experiences that we've had with each emotion. We will also complete several activities throughout the book. At the end of the final class, each student will be presented with their own Emotion Detective Certificate. This class will be very interactive and will work best if all students can be unmuted during discussions and activities. In order to make this work, it will be important for them to be in a quiet environment. *class may be cancelled if minimum learners is not reached

Students will learn how to recognize feelings in themselves and others.

Supply List
Learners will need paper or paper plates and either markers or crayons to complete craft activities. At the end of the 3rd class, Emotion Detective Certificates will be sent to parents.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been an Inclusion Specialist teaching in self contained classrooms for 20 years. For the majority of those years, I have worked with young students and our curriculum has focused on life skills and basic academic skills. My classroom curriculum always includes teaching, modeling and incorporating discussions on feelings and emotions into our classroom.
