May is National Short Story Month! Students will attempt to start and finish a short story every day in the month of May. They will learn short story writing techniques and forms while building a daily writing habit. Each week, I will go over a different writing concept and give students the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback on their writing. Throughout the week, I will post short story prompts. Students will improve their short story writing skills while building a daily writing habit.
The challenge is to write a short story every day. The length of the story and time spent depend entirely on the student.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
As this is a creative writing class, students may choose to write about sensitive topics.
I will use some writing prompts from the Story A Day website.
