You will work on improving your audition skills, cold reading skills, and emotional connection with your characters, relationships and scenes. Learn to make bold choices that will get you noticed and have the casting director do a double take! I will share my secret 7 Step Audition Model with you, this will help you stand out in the audition room as a professional in your field and start booking acting jobs. Included in this program will be learning how to warm up prior to your audition, staying calm and collected during your audition and getting and staying in character. Don't let your acting skills get rusty! Keep learning new acting techniques and pushing yourself to the next level. No previous experience needed. Topics that will be discussed and taught: How to slate for the camera Learn the Lingo How to enter and exit a room Eyelines Character and emotional choices Understanding what a transition is and how to use it How to read a script and understand it Understanding what a backstory is and why it is important How to identify character goals/objectives How to create strategies to help your character achieve their objectives/goals How to be specific when creating your character and scene so as to make your acting truthful PLUS, you get to act in scenes and monologues!!! There is so much to learn so this class is a great class for all levels and also a great addition to any of my other acting programs where you can learn method acting techniques and get into one of my scene study classes. This ongoing program is great to stick with as each week we will be adding in new topics and always feedback and direction.
Learning Goals
Topics that will be discussed and taught will include the following:
Week 1:
How to slate for the camera
Learn the Lingo
How to enter and exit a room
Eyelines
Week 2:
How to read a script and understand it
Understanding what a backstory is and why it is important
How to identify character goals/objectives
Week 3:
Character and emotional choices With your script(teacher will provide)
Understanding what a transition is and how to use it
Week 4:
How to create strategies to help your character achieve their objectives/goals
How to be specific when creating your character and scene so as to make your acting truthful
Week 5:
Rehearse and get direction
Week 6: Final Audition Piece Performance
Each week we will be learning new skills that will compliment the skills you may already have. You can jump in at anytimeOther Details
Parental Guidance
Please be advised that some of the Scripps we use for movie and TV shows are a rating of 14 and up. PG 14+. If you would like to see the script in advance, please reach out to us.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
Please bring to class a notebook, pencil, highlighter and eraser and a water to keep you hydrated.
It is highly recommended that you have a printer for this program to print out the short scenes and or monologues. However it is not necessary, as it is good practice to have the students write out their line so it helps them memorize.
