In this 6-week course, students will become an expert in vowel sounds and the different letters that make the sounds.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5

In this 6-week course, we will meet twice a week to learn a different vowel sound! The first day of the week will be learning about the long vowel sound and the second day will be for the short vowel sound. Because the same sound can be made with multiple letter combinations, students need to master this concept to become skilled readers. I will be using a combination of reading and writing strategies that will meet each child where they are and fill any gaps they may have in their knowledge....

Students will improve their reading skills by becoming an expert on all vowel sounds. 
Learners will identify the letters making the vowel sound and sort words based on the letters. 
Learners will find words with the vowel sound while reading and write their own story using the same type of words.

0Learners will need paper and something to write with. It would be best for students to have a notebook or folder to keep notes together between each class.

We will use videos from Scratch Garden and English4abc on YouTube.
