US Grade 2 - 5
Welcome to our 5-week journey where young learners will delve into the fascinating world of syllables! Join us twice a week for engaging sessions as we unravel the mysteries of different syllable types. Each week, our quest begins with an exploration of a new syllable type. On day one, we'll unlock the secrets of the syllable, mastering its structure and function. Then, on day two, we'll embark on an exciting adventure to interact with words featuring that specific syllable type. By the course's end, you'll possess the remarkable ability to decode any word! Through a dynamic blend of reading and writing strategies, I'll customize the lessons to meet each child's unique learning needs, ensuring any knowledge gaps are filled along the way. Here's a peek into our 60-minute class schedule: - 5 minutes: Let's start with a warm welcome! We'll introduce ourselves, catch up on what's happened since our last meeting, and prepare for an enriching session. - 10 minutes: We'll either review the syllable type from the previous class or dive into a new one! Engaging videos will deepen our understanding of each syllable and hone our word-dissecting skills. - 40 minutes: Get ready to apply your newfound knowledge! Students will take turns breaking down words into syllables, seeking out words that match the syllable type, and creating their own words using their expertise. - Last 5 minutes: As a delightful reward for our hard work, we'll conclude with a fun class activity, provided we've covered our lesson material and everyone has demonstrated their best effort. Join us on this educational expedition, where every step brings us closer to mastering the art of syllables!
Learning Goals
By the end of the course, students will confidently identify and understand various syllable types, effectively decode and pronounce words of varying complexity, and demonstrate proficiency in applying syllable knowledge to reading and writing tasks.
