Description

Class Experience

Students will learn that an action verb is an action we can do with our body. They will learn to identify what is an action verb and what is not an action verb. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to name an action verb and will be able to define an action verb in their own words.
I have been an elementary teacher for the past eleven years. I have noticed that many students struggle in writing. One important aspect in writing is using a variety of action verbs. It is important for students learn about action verbs so they can apply these verbs to their writing. Action verbs provide details to our writing. One of my strengths is teaching grammar while actively engaging student in the lesson.
After class, I will provide a packet of activities that your student can work on. These activities will align with the lesson. These activities are optional, but they do give your student extra practice with action verbs.
I will provide you with an handout that we will use in class. Your student will need to bring the handout, a pencil, and a smile to class. Your student may also come to class in a superhero costume. We will be moving around in this class. Please make sure your student has room to do some actions around the computer.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Your student will be assessed throughout class. Your student will be demonstrating their understanding of action verbs through class discussions, active participation by acting out the verbs, and individually defining an action verb. I will provide you with a feedback form after class that will provide you with your student's progress in our lesson. I only give out grades by request.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
