Looking to become a super summarizer? This is the place to be! We will use high-quality, engaging picture books to practice our summarizing skills in this ongoing course. Each week, we will read a new story, and then practice using the format "Somebody - Wanted - But - So - Then - Finally" to write a summary of the text. Students will improve their understanding of what a summary is, practice determining importance, and will gain experience in writing a strong summary.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents should bring paper and a pencil to class. They can print out the included graphic organizer, or copy it onto a blank sheet of paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
