Class Experience
Reading comprehension skills are necessary for academic success. Become A Reading Detective is designed for any student needing to practice reading fluency and reading comprehension skills. In this course, students will learn to uncover the clues to reading in order to better understand what they read. Learners will practice reading aloud (fluency), learn new vocabulary (context clues practice), reading comprehension strategies such as the main idea, details, inference skills, character...
Students will - Practice their oral reading skills of fiction and non-fiction passages. Learn and practice reading comprehension skills and strategies Learn how to use context clues to figure out unfamiliar vocabulary Be assisted with fluency
Each week students will receive a practice worksheet with answers for parents to check and review. This is optional and is not graded by me.
I am happy to answer any questions from parents regarding their student based on my class observations. Learners can also be assessed by the parents weekly with the worksheet practice.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
