Description
Class Experience
Students will develop greater control over the reading process through the development of reading strategies which assist decoding and construct meaning through Reading Comprehension. Students will also master Primer Sight Words which will assist in reading fluency.
Children should practice reading or be read to every day outside of school for 20 minutes. This can be done at bedtime or any time before or after school. Students will use the online e-library provided with the purchase of the class to pick "Just Right Books" and practice reading them to family members, stuffed animals, or pets until it is read independently and fluently. (You can read anything but remember you have free access to the 400+ book e-library while you are enrolled in class! This ranges from pre-k books through grade 5/6! It is a wonderful tool to have!). After that book is mastered a new book can be chosen. During class the students will share their learning with Mrs. Blandford and our learning community.
Paper Pencils Markers Crayons Stickie Notes Teacher Made worksheets will be provided
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
I will provide a class code for the website Raz-Kids that can be utilized for the duration of the class. I have paid and obtained permission to use the Raz-Kids e-library for all enrolled students to use for the duration of the course.
