Description

Class Experience

This course runs a semester-length of 9-weeks, students will learn through weekly videos, active class discussions, guided FlipGrid student interactions, PDF files with reading resources for the week, links to Kahoot challenges and homework assignments in order to strengthen and improve on their fan-fictions. Any aspiring writers or avid creative kids will find tools to better their craft, a community of like-minded peers, and opportunities/resources to have their story seen by thousands of...

Students will create and edit their own original fanfictions. 
Students will improve their skills in writing: grammar, sentence structure, punctuation.
Students will improve their understanding of genre and genre-specific conventions: fiction, fanfiction, fantasy.
Students will learn of different resources and websites they can use to share and publish their stories for free.
Students will learn the importance of the writing community and support.  
Students will develop social-emotional skills when critiquing others' work.

All homework that will be assigned is posted on Sunday before the coming week. Homework should take 2-4 hours out of class per week and will include required class reading assignments.

* Students must have access to Word or Google Documents or any other word processing software. 
* All other readings and curriculum materials will be supplied.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:FlipGrid
PearDeck
Kahoot

A written report will be sent detailing the strengths of the writer and what they excelled at. Also, there will be a note about how they can improve.

No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
