Join me in this fun one-time class where students will explore the basics of becoming a police officer. Our first task will be to share our thoughts on why we want to become a police officer and why it is an important job. Being able to communicate our thoughts about community helpers is so necessary because students will understand the purpose of police officers. I will also make sure to discuss the qualities police officers should possess when becoming a police officer. (Such as caring, kind, strong, protective, and patient) Our second task will be creating their own police car! Each student will be provided a worksheet of a police car and be able to decorate it to their liking. Each student will be provided a printable handout prior to class that will allow them to create their own classroom. While students are creating their police car, we will discuss how police officers monitor the roadways, assisting in emergency scenes, and making sure people follow the laws. I am beyond excited to be working with our little police officers. *Each student will receive a printable handout 24-48 hours in advance of the class. If the learner enrolls less than 24 hrs prior to class start time, I will send them out at my earliest convenience to make sure there is time for parents to print them out. If parents are unable to print these handouts, students are welcome to draw their own police car on their own sheet of paper*

Hello! my name is Lasamee and I live in Georgia. I am currently enrolled in my senior year of college and my major is Early Childhood Education. I always had a passion for kids ever since my little brother and sister were born and want to continue my journey at Outschool! I have been volunteering and interning for 5 years at different elementary schools from grades K-5. I absolutely love to create hands-on activities, teach music, and teach reading and writing. I believe that scaffolding will help students grow the most in learning because it is important for children to grow independence. As a future educator, teachers are always looking for ways to learn how to motivate students. Being able to cultivate activities and practices into the classroom will help students grow the love for learning.
