Calling all super summarizers! In this ongoing course, students will read a nonfiction text and then work to write a paragraph-long summary of the text. When summarizing nonfiction, it is important to determine the most important details of the text, and ultimately figure out the main idea. Together, we will talk about the differences between summarizing a fiction story and a nonfiction text. Then, we will work together to determine the most important information in the text. Students should come to class with a pencil and paper so that they can write their summary.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
