What's included

50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this course, children will learn about the life of Kate Sessions, a woman who always had a passion for nature and created a number of beautiful gardens and parks. While I read the story, I will ask the children to share different connections and relate Kate’s experiences to their own lives. Afterward, I will show them how to make homemade fruit roll-ups step by step. Parental supervision is required when they put their treats into the oven to cook.
Learning Goals
In this course, I want children to gain an appreciation for nature. I also hope that they get inspired by a woman who had a passion for gardening and took a stand to help her community.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
-the use of an oven to cook our yummy treat (I would like parents to be present when the food needs to go into the oven)
-a knife to cut the strawberries (a cutting knife isn’t necessary, just a regular one)
-you’re welcome to use a different fruit if your child is allergic to strawberries...any other fruit would work; applesauce is the only other food ingredient and it’s gluten free
Supply List
I will provide the book. Here’s a list of supplies & ingredients that the kids will need to make their yummy treat: 1) strawberries (2 cups) 2) applesauce (1 cup) 3) food processor 4) parchment paper 5) 2 baking/cooking sheets 6) knife 7) cutting board (optional) 8) scissors
