In this one time introductory class, your learner will become familiar with the iNaturalist app - an amazing citizen science tool that will allow your learner to get to know their non-human neighbors and contribute biodiversity data.

Beginner Level
This course aims to introduce learners to the iNaturalist app. iNaturalist is a citizen science app that focuses on identifying living organisms and sharing research grade biodiversity data with scientists. They will also be able to join and share their observations to the Outschool Biodiversity Project and continue to receive identification help after the class. The class will be separated into the following short segments: - what is iNaturalist and how do your observations contribute to science; - setting up your account; - how to safely take good pictures for identification; - how to use the app; and - how to join the Outschool Biodiversity project. After this class, your learner will be able to independently develop their knowledge of the living things around them.

Parental Guidance
Close-up images of insects, spiders, and other living things will be shown. Please let me know if your learner suffers from arachnophobia and I will avoid spiders as a topic.
