Have you ever loved a dog so much that he changed your life? If you are like me, you won't want to miss out on reading my favorite novel about dogs. In this class, students will actively participate in a novel study by reading "Because of Winn Dixie". Note: Students must have a copy of the book and read the assigned chapters before the next class. The teacher and the students will discuss the assigned chapters during each session. Discussions will include plot, story events, characters...
Students will learn reading strategies such as fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Students will also learn elements of a novel such as theme, character, plot, setting, story structure, character development, vocabulary, and higher level questioning strategies.
Homework Offered
Homework will be to read the assigned chapters before the start of the next class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Learning will be assessed per class through discussion and through related activities.Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollment*Students should have their own personal copy of the novel. A digital copy will be provided and shared in class. *Students can share a photo of their pet. *Feel free to bring a stuffed animal to class if so desired.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
