I want to share with you one of my favorite, most inspiring, Cosmetology industry success stories. One of the most notable success stories of the cosmetology industry, if not American history in general, is that of Madam C. J. Walker. Madam C.J. Walker was the daughter of former slaves and transformed herself from an uneducated washer woman into one of the twentieth century’s most successful entrepreneurs. In this class we will begin with brief introductions. Then we will watch a video interview, with Ms. A' Lelia Bundles, that I will share on a google slide with students. Then we will briefly review the learning goals which are listed in the learner goals section below. Ms. A' Lelia Bundles the great-great grand daughter of Walker. We hear the story of a poor washerwoman with no education who transformed herself and who sets an inspiring example to many people - women especially. C.J. Walker was the pioneer of the modern cosmetics industry, an accomplished entrepreneur, and the first female self-made American millionaire. Ms. A' Lelia Bundles, is the author of the biography "On Her Own Ground: The Life and the Times of Madam C.J. Walker." *Parents please contact me before class if you have any questions about the material discussed. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
