Beat the Clock Jr (Ages 5-8): Ongoing Bedroom Cleaning and Quick Tidy-Up Club

Each week, we'll race the clock to make fast progress in getting bedrooms clean. Learners will be coached through challenges that will tame even the biggest of messes! You will be amazed how much progress can be made in 20 minutes.

Class Experience

Kids who struggle with keeping things neat, tidy and organized don't always find the encouragement or support as kids who struggle academically. Think of this class as tutoring for kids who need extra help getting and keeping things tidy!

This group will be a judgement free zone. I was the kid who had a messy room and a messy desk. I know how frustrating it can be to just not be naturally tidy. So, with empathy and kindness (and humour and fun too), I teach a simple and consistent process for getting bedrooms under control - which with practice can be reproduced independently. Learners will be encouraged, supported and coached as they make actual progress in real time during our classes.

Each session will be 20 minutes and we will move quickly each time through simple steps to conquer messes and build good habits.

Learners will gain skills and confidence to break down the tasks necessary to keep their room neat and tidy, and have fun along the way. Each session will stand alone - learners can enter this course easily at any point as we will begin every class reviewing the steps and getting right to work! Learners will make improvements on their personal spaces every time they come. Guaranteed!

Week One - Week of November 29th - Why beat the clock (Introduction of working to a timer)?
Week Two - Week of December 6th - Where do we focus (Visibility Rule)?
Week Three - Week of December 13th - Make some room (Decluttering to create more space).
Week Three - Week of December 20th - Putting all the steps together (Tidying my room start to finish!)
Learning Goals
Children will learn simple steps to clean their room, which with practice can be reproduced independently.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a teacher, a tutor and a mom from British Columbia, Canada. I currently am teaching full time in the public school system and enjoy tutoring and coaching part-time on Outschool as well.

As a child academics came very easily for me, but personal organization did not. I was the kind of kid who had a messy room and a messy desk, and later a messy locker, apartment and car! Kids who struggle with math or writing, often get support. Kids who struggle with life skills instead tend to get judged and treated like they are just lazy or don't care. I cared and my inability to figure out how to keep things tidy was frustrating, stressful and embarrassing!

I have studied and learned ways to work with my brain to get and keep things clean and organized. I love working with kids and teens who need a little extra encouragement, support and training in this area - and offer judgement-free, kindness based coaching for kids.

I really hope to get to meet and work with your children.
