Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
In this class, we will discuss the requirements to give a pet Bearded Dragon the best life possible. We are going to discuss several topics in regard to Bearded Dragon care: Diet, Housing, Heating/Lighting, Handling, and where to buy a Bearded Dragon. My class will be particularly taught with slides but also with a real-life example of a Bearded Dragon, Picaso, using her enclosure and care as an example. My teaching style is fun and upbeat, I want to use real-life animals to connect learners with the concept we're discussing. I am also a certified National Geographic Educator so it is my background to connect learners to the topic using interactive materials, such as live animals and examples. There are no required experiences or knowledge learners need.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about 5 topics in regard to Bearded Dragon care. Firstly, they will learn about the Bearded Dragon diet. Specifically, what they eat, why they need to eat these foods, where to purchase food, and how to prepare it. Next, we will discuss housing, what type of enclosure is best for your lizard, and how the inside of the enclosure should be set up. Bearded Dragons require specific heating and lighting so we will then go over what lighting is needed for your lizard, how to set it up, and the importance of quality lighting and temperature. Since Bearded Dragons are incredibly sociable it is very important that we discuss how to handle your lizard and what fun activities (such as training) you can do with them! Lastly, we will discuss where the best places to purchase a healthy Bearded Dragon.
