Class Experience

In this class we will make beautiful butterfly magnets out of pipe cleaners, beads, and clothespins. As we craft, we will also discuss the different life stages of the butterfly. Each craft item will represent a different life cycle. The bead is the egg, the clothespin is the caterpillar, the glitter covered clothespin is the chrysalis, and the finished craft is the adult butterfly. Students will improve their understanding of the life cycle of a butterfly such as: egg, larva/caterpillar, pupa/chrysalis, adult butterfly. We will discuss each life cycle stage while we make our butterfly magnets.

1 clothespin, glue, glitter, 3 pipe cleaners (1 cut in half), pony beads, small adhesive magnets

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
