Welcome to Be Your Own Boss: Entrepreneurship Club for Kids This class will be a fun and interactive place for students interested in entrepreneurship to come together, share ideas, and learn how to turn their business dreams into success. Each class will provide students the opportunity to talk about their own business ideas and brainstorm together as a group. We'll also focus on one new skill, subject, or tip to encourage business growth in each class! In each class students will be asked to: • Talk about one area of success in either developing their business idea or in its operations. • Talk about one failure they experienced during the week and how they overcame it. • Actively engage in a discussion with both the teacher and other learners about that week's topic. • Work together to brainstorm solutions to a fictional problem, and present their ideas to the class. The class schedule will be as follows: • During Week 1 (week of September 5th, 2022) our topic will be time management. • During Week 2 (week of September 12th, 2022) our topic will be financial management. • During Week 3 (week of September 19th, 2022) our topic will be brand design and development. • During Week 4 (week of September 26th, 2022) our topic will be web design and development. • During Week 5 (week of October 3rd, 2022) our topic will be overcoming obstacles and minimizing risks. • During Week 6 (week of October 10th, 2022) our topic will be collaboration. • During Week 7 (week of October 17th, 2022) our topic will be entrepreneurship in our communities. • During Week 8 (week of October 24th, 2022) our topic will be communication strategies. All students are welcome to join, and no prior experience is necessary. Students will be encouraged to be active participants throughout our lessons as they'll often be working together in groups.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to set and achieve business goals. Students will learn about :
• Business finances, profit maximization, pricing, and income / expense tracking.
• Print and digital advertising, branding, and communication strategies.
• Business plan development and application.
• Problem solving, risk analysis and mitigation.
Students will gain valuable practice:
• Communicating and presenting their ideas.
• Working together in a collaborative environment.

Supply List
Students should always bring writing materials to class. Students must also have working video and audio for classes.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher Mel is passionate about all thing entrepreneurship. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration and is a law school graduate with a keen interest in corporate law. Prior to teaching she worked as an accountant and was able to help and guide many small business owners through the process of first time entrepreneurship.
