In this multi-day course for grade seven, students will learn new vocabulary words by explanation, discussion, word puzzles and reading comprehension. This class meets twice a week for ten weeks.

In this small group learning setting, the students will greatly improve their reading comprehension by increasing their vocabulary base by learning the vocabulary words from Wordly Wise 3000 Grade seven, part two. This ten-week course is the teaching of the second half of the grade seven book. EDITION FOUR There are fifteen words in each of the twenty lessons in the book. Each week will cover one lesson. This is a small group educational setting. Students get individual help. Students will learn vocabulary words vital to increased growth in their word base. The goal is to internalize these words. Students will be made more aware of the words in their world and be able to add them to their normal spoken and written vocabulary. Reading comprehension naturally increases because of added knowledge of new words. My other important goal is to get the student excited about reading and learning new words!
The fall of 2022 marks my 50th year to teach, as I started teaching in 1972. I have been teaching vocabulary lessons from this series since 1990. Of all of the things I have ever taught, I love teaching vocabulary the most because of its value to the learner. Why should a parent chose me as a teacher? Check my reviews and you will see that parents appreciate my warm relationships to their children. I believe I inspire learning and my classes are fun! As a retired teacher of 33 years, I have taught this same Wordly Wise curriculum in a public classroom for many years. I feel excited and comfortable to be sharing this knowledge with students. I truly feel if the student is interested, and will complete the work, this class will make a huge difference in the life of the student! It just may be a game changer!
Homework Offered
Outside of class, students will complete five exercises per week: A, B, C, D, E. They will read the non-fiction passage and answer the 15 questions in complete sentences. There is an informal test each week by using a Kahoot quiz. Students will NOT need a second device, as they can now see the questions and answers on my screen. To prepare for this exciting quiz, students will practice their word meanings by playing Quizlet at home.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The best evidence of this class will be when the students begin to use on their own, the words we are studying! Students will not be graded with a letter grade. Students will grade their own work during class. Students will have their knowledge checked by an assessment weekly through our Kahoot Quiz.Grades Offered
For the multi-day course, students will be required to purchase a workbook: Wordly Wise 3000 Grade Seven 4th edition. The cover has a blue background with an red circle and two solid white letter Ws. These are available on Amazon new for $21.95 or used for various prices. Be sure your book is the FOURTH EDITION, as it goes along perfectly with the prepared slides and lessons.

The class uses Wordly Wise Book Seven, part two, just like the class I am currently teaching to six students. The ten non-fiction story title and topics are listed above so parents can see what the story is about. None of the topics are dangerous, upsetting, or controversial. The content of the lesson is typed for the student (from their book) and presented in a Google slide presentation. We read the story from the book together. The only other tool used, besides the Wordly Wise workbook, grade seven, is a Kahoot game. The game is typed using the definitions and usage of the 15 vocabulary words studied each week.
