Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
📣"Wonderful class! Mrs. Blesy is really good at keeping little kids engaged with creative ways of activities and above all, this class is very informative!" Outschool Parent

📣"It was very fun, quick and easy. It was short enough that it kept my daughter's attention but still in depth enough that the teacher was able to share some stories from the vet hospital and teach the kids about stethoscopes and x-rays. The cut out activity at the end was really fun and I love that it was customizable " Outschool Parent

🐕For the little learners who want to BE THE VET from the author of the BE THE VET book series (over 11,000 copies sold)!🐈

Class Outline:

🐈*Introductions

🐈*Instruction with slides answering such questions as:
What does a veterinarian do?
What types of animals does a veterinarian care for?
What things does a veterinarian do in a typical day?

🐈*Building the veterinary scene:
Students will be given glue and scissor safety instruction.
Students will take their veterinary clinic exam room backdrop (uploaded to the classroom from the teacher) and cut out their veterinarian of choice along with the animals they want to glue into their scene (uploaded to the classroom from the teacher). *You will need access to a printer unless your child is content drawing their scene rather than using the materials provided.

🐕*While the students work, the teacher will teach about the use of other items included for the veterinary scenes that they can cut out:
*Nail clippers to cut nails that are long on a dog or cat
*Microscope to look for things like bacteria that may be causing an infection in an animal
*Medicated shampoo for cases like skin infections
*Scale to weigh an animal and the value of a healthy diet for pets

🐕*Ending class with sharing about any family pets
*Please print in "landscape" or "horizontally." Thank you.

*I am positive and encouraging. I refer to all students as doctors during class and ask lots of questions to allow them to critically think! This class is both fun and educational.

I am the author of the BE THE VET book series for older children, which I wrote with my veterinarian husband. We have sold 1000s of the books which allow students to pretend to be the vet as they respond to fictional vet cases. This class is created for the youngest children interested in learning about the basics of a veterinary clinic.

I am the co-author of the popular book series, BE THE VET. The other co-author is my husband, veterinarian Dr. Ed Blesy. Dr. Ed wrote the veterinary information based upon his twenty + years of veterinary experience while explaining veterinary terminology for student understanding. The cases and treatment are fictionalized based upon one doctor’s experience. It was important for us to write a book where the readers get to feel as if they are part of the experience using the context clues from my stories.

I am also a former certified elementary school teacher and the author of over 25 books for children.
