Be the Teacher - Public Speaking for Young Learners
What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Does your learner love to talk about things they are passionate about? This may be the class for them! In this class, learners have the opportunity to become the teacher. Weekly themes will be provided (see below), and learners are invited to present what they know about the subject and engage with their peers. Learners are expected to come prepared with some knowledge about the topic, and are welcome to use props (toys, pictures, books, etc) to help them present. Each learner will have approximately 5 minutes to present, followed by time for questions from teacher and classmates. Learners have full creative freedom over how they present and what the talk about, as long as it is related to the theme. For example, for a theme about shapes - Learners can create shapes out of paper, and teach the shapes to the group. They could also bring toys that have the shapes the are talking about (stackable rings for circles, lego bricks for rectangular prisms). Presentations are not expected to be formal, simply an opportunity for learners to share their knowledge in any form they are comfortable with. Learners are encouraged to ask questions following their peer presentation. Guardians or learners are welcome to send teacher a message in advance of class for help with presentation ideas. In classes of low enrollment, engagement games will be facilitated by the teacher after learner presentations. *Mute will be used ensure presenter has uninterrupted experience. Learners can all unmute for Questions & Answers. *For the safety and privacy of learners, video recordings of classes with more than 1 student will not be shared with learners or parents.* Weekly Themes (Week of ) December 11: Farm Animals (Week of) December 18: Vehicles (Week of) December 25: Learners Choice (Week of) January 1: Learner Goal (choose 1 goal to present on) (Week of) January 8: Shapes (Week of) January 15: Create Something (build with Lego's, draw a picture, bake something - bring to class to present) (Week of) January 22: Sports (Week of) January 29: Learners Choice
