Description

Class Experience

This class is designed to get students excited about writing, and to encourage their creativity.
I have over 15 years experience teaching English, specializing in teaching writing. I love to use my favorite stories as a springboard for inspiring students to create their own amazing stories and characters.
(Encouraged) Students should share their work with a friend or family member.
(Optional) Students can turn their monster descriptions into full stories, using the story template worksheet.
Students need to come prepared to write. They will need a pencil and eraser, and some paper. A story template will also be provided for students who wish to continue writing stories after class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The story of "Smart Marriette" is from the book "Don't Open the Door" by Veronika Martenova Charles. It is part of her "Easy-to-Read Spooky Tales" series. The book is recommended for children from age 5 up. It is not very scary, but there is a frog-eating goblin in it. If you are not sure if your child will be sensitive to this topic, please feel free to contact me to discuss it more.
