What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
Class time will include a mix of vocabulary games, reading, discussion and writing. The class will begin with a few fun games to get creative juices flowing. Then we'll read the story "Smart Mariette" by Veronika Martenova Charles, a funny story about how a clever girl outsmarts a goblin. Next, students will work together to write a collaborative group story about meeting a monster. And, finally, students will focus on creating their own monster descriptions which they will be able to read to the class. These monster descriptions can also be used to create their own short stories after class (if they wish) using the story template worksheet that is provided after the lesson.
Learning Goals
This class is designed to get students excited about writing, and to encourage their creativity.

Parental Guidance
The story of "Smart Marriette" is from the book "Don't Open the Door" by Veronika Martenova Charles. It is part of her "Easy-to-Read Spooky Tales" series. The book is recommended for children from age 5 up. It is not very scary, but there is a frog-eating goblin in it. If you are not sure if your child will be sensitive to this topic, please feel free to contact me to discuss it more.

Students need to come prepared to write. They will need a pencil and eraser, and some paper. A story template will also be provided for students who wish to continue writing stories after class.
