Congratulations, you have your first job! You can now pay for things you want without having to rely on your parents. But how will you handle when unexpected life events happen? In this class, learners will use their math and critical thinking skills while playing a game I created called "Adulting Jr". For each lesson learners will be expected to play one round of "Adulting Jr: Financial Literacy Game". The game will be sent as Printable files along with video instruction on how to set up and play the game. The learner will choose their job and goal. As they navigate through the game, they will decide whether or not they will pay for expenses and try to avoid "unexpected events". But just as in life, they never know when or what unexpected life event will occur! When this happens, learners will have options to earn extra income or take out credit. But no worries, in this easy version they have fewer opportunities to land on the "unexpected events" space. After playing one round of the game, learners will be expected to watch the video lesson and then complete an assignment to put into practice what is learned through the video instruction.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to define and create Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals, which they will apply to their personal financial decisions throughout the game.
Learners will understand the basics of budgeting by determining needs vs. wants.
