Kids learn 3 Organizing & Room Reset Skills -- with follow up classes for learners who still need a bit more time to finish cleaning up their room.

Class experience

LEARN: This class will teach at least two easy principals of organization to the learner who will start to tame their own room and space (starting with clothes, then books, then toys, artwork, desks, the floor, closets, etc). Learners will take an organizational quiz to discover their organizational style.

TAME: Once we sort out what natural strengths we have in organizing, students will learn how to leverage their natural disposition to take charge of their space.

LET GO: By the end of class, students will learn what to keep and what to let go. Because the best things in life aren't things.

FINISH: For some students, tidying their room will take one day. For others, we will chip away at sorting through the mess in one part of the room until it's all gone and then move on to the next.

Wouldn't it be nice to be more organized? Different kids have different strengths and styles. We'll learn to work with our strengths and learn what methods don't work for us as individuals.

There is nothing this instructor enjoys more than taming chaos. As a teacher of teens, kids, and college students for over 25 years, I've noticed that students who excel in college are almost always consistently organized and ready for what comes next. A long time fan of Julie Morgenstern and Marie Kondo (organizing goddesses), I'm also savvy about the use of time management skills and bullet journals since my job has always relied upon self-scheduling multiple projects and a need to tame the paper tiger that comes with being a writer. I've been helping friends tame their offices and schedules for years, and now I'm happy to offer this class to kids who are bright and know they can shine--but for whatever reason are mired down and as a result often seem disorganized to others.
Homework Offered
The instructor will help learners stay on task in class from start to finish. Students will have fun measuring their progress, and be given short tasks at the end of the day that they can finish before the day is over.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
We will cheer progress made and chaos tamed. Learners will be encouraged to take before and after photos and post them in the classroom for maximal satisfaction and pride. We will also discuss ways to enjoy our room now that it's clean and tidy.
Grades Offered
Students should bring to class a notebook or paper that they can use to draw in, lined or unlined. We will be making a map of our rooms.

This class is about organizing physical spaces. As a result, there may be suggestions about the need for containers or furniture to help stay organized. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING BEFORE STARTING THE CLASS. Often there are inexpensive answers to these problems--such a utilizing Facebook Marketplace for desks or shelves, or using shoe boxes for storage solutions.
