Join this ongoing math class and learn 1st grade math skills throughout the year. Each week a different math concept will be taught with practice materials provided after class for more individualized and targeted practice. We will cover a full curriculum from August through May. Summer classes are a review of main math concepts.

Description

Class Experience

  Students will focus on first grade math standards and content in this 35 minute class, that meets 2 times per week. Class size is limited  to ensure there is plenty of interaction and meaningful feedback for each learner. 
EXPERIENCE
     At the beginning of class we will always start with a community building activity, so that students get to interact with each other, have fun and get ready to learn. Next we will tackle the math topic of the week. Each lesson begins with a "Watch and...

Students will improve their understanding of math concepts.

Students will be provided activities to do at home.  Students will also be given access to IXL, an educational website, for optional extra practice. These website is self grading and is interactive.

Students will need a small whiteboard with marker for every class. They should also have a small notebook as well. Paper and pencil are difficult to be seen on Zoom and it is difficult to erase if there are mistakes that need to be fixed.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:IXL

1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

Students will occasionally be asked to use scissors to cut out math shapes, etc. for lessons prior to class. Parental guidance is recommended. Also, students will have access to IXL. Parents will be given the username and password for this site as an account is required.

A printable handout will be provided prior to each class. We will also be using IXL, an educational website, for extra practice on skills learned that week.
