Informal assessments are optional and available upon request at the midway and end point of the course. If you would like to receive an assessment of a learner's progress, please forward a copy of the projects that they have already completed in a private message to the teacher and they will respond with a short written explanation of what the learner is doing well and where they can improve. The assessment will not include a numerical or number grade.Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this 10 week class, learners will go from complete beginner in graphic design to making a wide range of designs like invitations, t-shirt and mug mockups, stop-motion animation, posters, advertisements, and more! Week 1: Collage Week 2: Invitation Week 3: T-Shirts Week 4: Posters Week 5: Brochure Week 6: Advertisements Week 7: Social Post Week 8: YouTube Thumbnail Week 9: Animation Week 10: Slideshow During this camp we will explore the following Canva features: Templates - Canva has thousands of free ready-to-use templates for designs. I will show learners how to access them but we will create our own designs from scratch. Elements - Canva has an extensive selection of elements and we will explore many of the various element types and learners will be taught to search for the type of elements that they would like to use. - Lines and Shapes - Graphics - Photos - Videos - Audio - Frames Text - Canva has a wide range of text styles available. Learners will learn to insert various text types and change font, size, color, and spacing. - Heading - Subheading - Body text - Font Combination Backgrounds - Learners will learn how to insert backgrounds and remove image backgrounds. In this class, learners will be able to design alongside the instructor to create their own graphic design. The teacher will screen share a design that she is creating as learners use their creativity to create their own design. Parents will need to sign learners up for a free Canva account before class. Learners will need to be logged into their Canva account prior to the start of class. (The learners can fully participate in the class with the free account. The teacher will demonstrate some of the things that can be accomplished with premium features). Learners will need basic computer skills including an understanding of drag and drop and how to conduct this task on their device. They will also need to know how to navigate multiple windows if they are using Canva on the same device that they are logged into the classroom.
